I will right wrongs and triumph over evil! by leftandrightdolls
I will right wrongs and triumph over evil!
Group pic of the Sailor Scouts.  Jupiter is a few stitches taller than the others and Sailor Moon is I think one row shorter.  The differences in their shoes and hair really stand out in this picture too.

These dolls are for sale. Please see my list of premade dolls for prices and availability or my ordering info for more details. I do commissions too.

Finished Spring 2014.

Sailor Moon by leftandrightdolls
Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon, herself!  I just got a good laugh out of my filenames — the other scouts got their planets included (“SailorMoonMercury.jpg”, etc.) but her file was “SailorMoonSerena.jpg” and I realized that if I’d named her the same way she’d be SailorMoonMoon.

She has my favorite hair out of the set.  It was surprisingly fast to come together, and yet it was instantly recognizable as her.

Sailor Jupiter by leftandrightdolls
Sailor Jupiter
Sailor Jupiter, from Sailor Moon.  I made her a few stitches taller than the other scours so she’d be the right proportions.  Her hair is tied with a regular old bow because I couldn’t come up with something I liked that matched her real hairband.

Sailor Venus by leftandrightdolls
Sailor Venus
Sailor Venus from Sailor Moon.  The orange yarn in her outfit is actually the only yarn in the whole set that isn’t Vanna’s Choice — it’s some random acrylic from a bag of scraps I got at a yarn swap.

Sailor Mercury by leftandrightdolls
Sailor Mercury
Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon.  She uses the same blue yarn that is in parts of Sailor Moon’s costume so I was constantly mixing up their limbs until I got them assembled.  The skirts in this set are all knit, but everything else is crocheted.

This doll is for sale. Please see my list of premade dolls for prices and availability or my ordering info for more details. I do commissions too.

Hi, this is Maddie from Archon. You made me an Erza doll. I just want to thank you again for all your work and effort to get her done by Sunday, I really really appreciate it. She is adorable and easily one of my favorite if not my very favorite thing I've ever gotten from a convention.

Thanks!  It wasn't a problem.  It was nice having something to work on while sitting at the table, and finishing one doll over the length of the con was a fun challenge.  It helped that you ordered her so early; there's no way I would have had time for anything ordered later that night or the next day.

I just posted a photo of her on tumblr, but if you get any other photos of her I'm always happy to reblog.  I'll get her up on dA pretty soon too, but my dA needs too many other updates too for me to deal with tonight.

Glad you liked her so much.  Thanks for buying, and thanks also for watching!

You're more than welcome! I haven't even had a chance to show some of my friends that didn't go to Archon and I'm sure once I do they will love your work as much as I do. I hope to see you guys at more cons as there are many of your dolls I think are adorable and would love to have.

Question: is it advisable to try to embroider eyebrows on to a Merida doll I am making for my cousin's daughter? It took me about a dozen tries to get the mouth to not look creepy, because I barely know how to make floss do my bidding, but I'm determined to make her look as close to the movie as possible. Is there a particular way you do it to make it easier?

My wife actually make most of the faces XD.  I'm great when it comes to counting whole numbers of stitches, but when the embroidering starts and threads can go anywhere it gets too subjective for me.  But yes, I think she just embroiders them and redoes it however many times it takes to get it to look right.

Good luck!

I'm going to need an entire leprechaun's worth of luck to do eyebrows. maybe I'll just stalk your gallery to get an idea.

HOLY CRAP I just realized you were a male. Thank you for making my day. It's always nice to meet crocheters who aren't fellow females.
